I first photographed these houses all the way back in July of 2009, and then I completely forgot I just photographed them again back in May of 2024 in Washington, Illinois.

But I liked how the branches were casting shadows on the facades of the houses in the early morning late of the early spring.

This is St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, which was founded in 1875. The first church was begun in 1877 but a new building was needed in several decades.

The current church dates from 1911, and is typical of the Gothic Revival of that time period, reflecting the English school of that style. Like many buildings in the area, it makes use of Indiana limestone.

The belltower is a prominent feature of the church.
